Salinas Calombolo and Alexandre’s House projects
Benguela province is to have its first caustic soda and calcium hypochlorite factory. This development is the result of the signing of the transfer contracts for the Salinas Calombolo and Alexandre’s House projects, to be carried out by the Banco de Desenvolvimento de Angola (BDA), which aim to boost the industrial and fishing sectors in Angola.

Description of what it is and what it aims to achieve: This will be the first factory for this type of product in Angola, included in the Salinas and Alexandre’s House project, where the contracts were signed under the Deustche Bank credit line on 8 January in Luanda at the BDA’s premises.
The Salinas Calombolo project will establish a Caustic Soda and Calcium Hypochlorite factory in Benguela. It will be the first plant of its kind in Angola and will contribute to improving public health, sanitation and industry, especially in water treatment and surface disinfection. Calombolo occupies approximately 5,000 square metres and has the capacity to produce high quality chemicals, making a significant contribution to regional development and reducing the trade deficit.
For its part, the Alexandre’s House project is focused on supplying and setting up a warehouse for receiving, freezing and processing fish in the municipality of Baia Farta.
This project is expected to create 203 direct and permanent jobs, boosting not only the fishing sector, but also the regional economy.
Cost of the work: 24 million euros and 47 million euros respectively.
