The rehabilitation and expansion work on the Américo Boavida Hospital, which began in 2022, should be completed by November of this year.

Description of what it is and what it aims to achieve: After a visit to the site, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, noted that the work is progressing well, despite some initial delays related to funding and infrastructure, which have now been resolved.

With a capacity for 600 beds, Américo Boavida will be the largest general hospital in the country, offering highly complex services.

The health minister said that the hospital will also have a training center and spaces to accommodate professionals in training and teachers.

Founded in 1958, the hospital covers an area of 61,000 square meters and is a reference unit for specialized care, although it has faced structural problems in recent years.
