New Cabinda International Airport
The purpose of building the airport is to decongest the flow of passengers that the province has been experiencing in terms of passenger and air cargo transportation, taking into account Cabinda’s geographical discontinuity.

Location: Sassa-Zau, Malembo (35 kms from Cabinda)
Description of what it is and what it aims to achieve: The new airport aims to turn Cabinda into a regional ‘hub’, and in this way open doors to new opportunities and strengthen the economy.
Some stages of the construction have already been completed, such as the successful removal of explosive devices, the erection of the building sites and the geotechnical investigation. Blasting work on the runway is in full swing, demonstrating the significant progress of the works.
The new airport will have a runway 3,500 meters long and 45 meters wide, as well as a modern passenger terminal, a control tower, a fire station and a police station. It has been designed to handle 700 domestic passengers and 500 international passengers during peak times. It should be completed by 2027.
Cost of the Work: Budgeted at 245 million euros.
