New Burn Unit Hospital

The new Burn Unit Hospital will be the first in the country to have three hyperbaric chambers, which will increase the response capacity for various pathologies and contribute to a better recovery for patients.

Name of Work: New Burn Unit Hospital

Location of Work: Municipality of Belas, Luanda

Description of what it and what it aims to achieve: Hyperbaric chambers are used in hyperbaric therapy, a medical treatment that involves inhaling pure oxygen in a high-pressure environment, and is effective in speeding up recovery from burns and other medical conditions.

The hospital will have 248 beds, 60 of which will be dedicated exclusively to treating burn patients. Completion of the work and equipment is scheduled for October this year. The project is already 55% complete.

The unit will occupy an area of 48,207 m² and will have six floors, four buildings (hospital, WWTP, auxiliary and PSA) and a parking lot for 364 vehicles. It will also have a modern structure with a pharmacy, laboratory, emergency room, physiotherapy, operating room, morgue, kitchen, data center, auditorium, treatment and hospitalization areas for adults and children, among other facilities.

The hospital aims to improve the response to burns treatment and strengthen the capacity of the country’s health system.
