1st gold refinery
Huíla and Cabinda are currently the provinces that produce the most gold in our country. However, the best place to set up a refinery to purify precious metals is not always next to the mines. The best places are near international airports, financial, banking and stock markets, where there is usually a proliferation of skilled labour; places with a lot of security and easy mobility of factors; places with laboratory and logistics infrastructures, etc.
The great advantage of building this gold refinery is that all the raw gold produced in the country can be refined locally. This will not only add value to the raw material, but also stimulate the emergence of complementary services to this endeavour.
The construction of the first gold refinery in the Viana industrial estate will be crucial in various segments of economic, financial and industrial importance. As a result, we will see greater economic diversification, an increase in employment and greater tax revenue for the state.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
Name of Work: Gold refinery
Location of Work: Viana Industrial Estate (Luanda) in an area of 2,470 m2.
Description of what it is and what it aims to achieve: Angola will soon have a crude gold refining plant, to be built at the Viana Industrial Estate in Luanda. Construction work is about 35% complete and is expected to be finished in the second half of 2024.
At the same time, the main equipment is being purchased from outside the country, as well as the initial certification and training of national technicians; 23 young Angolans are training in the most diverse specialities in the city of Porto in Portugal. 30 direct jobs are expected to be created.
The first gold refinery to be set up in Angola will enable economic diversification and add value to our gold, which will no longer be exported as a raw material but as a finished product.
Cost of the work: 7 million dollars.
