National Road 105 Lubango/Benguela

The National Road 105 linking Lubango to Benguela is undergoing rehabilitation work and includes the Matala/Cacula/Quilengues/Chongoroi/Catengue bypass sections, covering 303 kilometres.

This is a key stretch of road due to its geographical location and the role it plays in connecting two major population centres in the south of the country, namely the capital of Benguela Province and Huíla, as well as the link between the interior and the south coast of the country.

Name of Work: National Road 105 Lubango/Benguela

Location of Work: National Road 105 (connecting Huíla and Benguela)

Description of what it is and what it aims to achieve: It should include rehabilitation, widening and remapping of the section, including bridges and hydraulic crossings, public lighting and pavements. The work to rehabilitate EN 105 is expected to take 42 months.

This rehabilitation work will generate employment – more than 530 direct jobs, mainly for young people living in those towns.

Cost of the work: around 340 million dollars
