Centro de Ciência e Tecnologia de Luanda

On 20 December 2023, the President of the Republic João Lourenço inaugurated the first Science and Technology Centre.

Set in an area of 9,600 square metres, the new technological infrastructure, which is the result of the conversion of the old Soap Factory (Congeral), will include various interactive exhibitions, a planetarium and an auditorium with a giant screen for showing films and documentaries.

Location of Work: Downtown Luanda, next to the São Miguel Fortress – Luanda

Description of what it is and what it aims to achieve: This new centre, which has been in the pipeline for 13 years, was given a new impetus at the beginning of 2020 and after almost 4 years, its requalification work has been completed.

In February 2024, the Science and Technology Centre began operating normally, with access to the exhibitions and other attractions.

Its aim is to raise the scientific culture of the population in general, and of children and young people in particular, by popularising scientific and technological knowledge.

Cost of the work: 50 million dollars
