CATUMBELA INDUSTRIAL CENTRE
The Catumbela Industrial Development Centre (PDIC), created by a decree approved by the Council of Ministers, is an area of several industrial and business projects.
The PDIC allotment project gave rise to the current infrastructures of PHASE I and PHASE II, which include roads, earthworks for the plots, water supply networks, electricity supply network, construction of rainwater drainage ditches, with PHASE I being the best infrastructure.
The main aim of the PDIC is to boost domestic industry and thus reduce the levels of imports of materials that are widely consumed in construction and homes.

Description of what it is and what it aims to achieve: The PDIC resulted from a project to develop Angolan industry which aims to serve as an instrument for industrial expansion, diversification and modernization.
The PDIC currently encompasses the food, beverage, fertiliser, public works, construction, ceramics, block production and service industries. It is currently divided into two phases, the first between the municipalities of Lobito and Catumbela, with approximately 273 ha of infrastructure, while the second phase, located in Luongo, near the mountain, has 773 ha. This second phase is intended to be used for the construction of 80 new companies.
Financing and loans: The Angolan government recently borrowed 100 million dollars from the Saudi Fund for Development to cover the first phase of the construction project.
The PDIC has a line of financing from the World Bank as part of the Economic Diversification Programme.
