Caála Logistics Platform

9 December 2023 marked the start of this ambitious project, which aims to be the major logistics and transport hub linking the Port of Lobito to the Democratic Republic of Congo and later to Zambia.

This platform, which is scheduled to come into operation in 2025, is the first of six Logistics Platforms to be built, initially at strategic points in the country, with a view to storing, preserving and transporting agricultural, mineral, forestry, food industry, fisheries, energy, tourism and hydrocarbon products.

Name of Work: Caála Logistics Platform

Location of Work: Located between National Roads 120 and 260 and the Lobito Corridor – Caála municipality, Huambo province

Description of what it is and what it aims to achieve: The Caála Platform has a very important strategic position, as it is located in the centre of the country. Its purpose is to be an important part of the Executive’s vision of replacing imported raw materials with local production and connecting to global markets via the Port of Lobito and to neighbouring countries via the Lobito Corridor, in order to make the project a fundamental axis.

The project’s goals include replacing imports of basic consumer goods with local production, boosting small businesses and the activity of agricultural producers, creating more than 2,000 jobs, well-being, as well as ensuring the development and equitable distribution of income throughout the national territory.

Cost of the project: More than 445 million dollars

Contractor: Partnership between the Government of Angola, represented by the Angolan Regulatory Agency for Cargo and Logistics Certification (ARCCLA) and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, through its Embassy in Angola and the Flying Swans Consortium
